April 3rd : I am pleased to let everyone know that on Sunday afternoon during a meeting at The 13th Note, I signed with Glasgow based label Antimatter Records. The final wavs of my debut EP for the label have been handed over for mastering and pen was put to paper. My debut for Antimatter is "Magnolia Lane EP" and should be released later this year through various download sites and possibly as a limited edition CD as well. The label will also be handling the sync side of things and will be trying to get some of my tunes placed in tv / films / adverts etc. I've spent the past few months bringing the songs for the EP up to standard and both Kenny from Antimatter and myself are really pleased with the results. You might know the songs from my live sets and / or demo CDs but you've not heard them sounding this good before! I'll be setting up some gigs for around the release date so if anyone out there is interested in sorting something out then give me a shout. Check out the Antimatter Music website for more info on the label and their acts. http://www.antimattermusic.co.uk/home.html

November 20th : I'll be playing live again next month for the first time since Go North in June. There's a gig lined up in Edinburgh for the NFS Xmas Party. I'll be playing with The Magnificents, Action Group, Keser and How To Swim on the 19th December. Then I'll be performing at the Tronic Xmas Party alongside Firebrand Boy, Emotiquon and Deltason at The 13th Note on 21st December. Free entry for that one! More information in the Live Dates section and over on myspace.

May 11th : I've been asked to play at an electronic showcase for Go North 2007 up in Inverness. I will play on Thursday June 7th @ Pivo with Joystick Discoteque, Araya & Damaged Goodz. Visit the Robotone myspace page for more info by clicking here.

May 4th : Just to let you know that Is This Music? magazine features a review of the gig I did in Dunfermline a few weeks ago.

"Satellite Dub, despite all that's gone before him, makes for a clean, computerised processed sound. He's been spotted in the past with guitar, with vocals, but even now he thanks the audience at the end basically by shouting at them, unmic'ed. Before that it's a 30-minute procession through a one-man barrage of beats. Basically a computerised set with Craig Satellite triggering and manipulating samples, the beats are relentless, from 'London Has More LIghts' via 'Trying To Stop a Tank With Your Hands' whose title tells you everything you need to know. To lump in names like the Chemikal Brothers or Prodigy is a handy reference, but does the man a disservice, unless prefaced by "better than". There’s dancing at the end, and the closing ’Magnolia Lane’ makes for a massive finale. It may be early April, but spring has sprung, and Scotland’s live scene is hotting up."

The full review of the night can be read here.

April 19th : Sorry about this but i've had to pull out the gig tonight due to a death in the family. Apologies to those who were going to head down. Still go and see the other bands though coz they are awesome

January 3rd: All the best to everyone for 2007! Hope it's a great year for you all. 2006 was an interesting year for me, mostly highs and only a few lows. Highlights include plenty of airplay on Radio 1, being included on the Tronic compilation CD, playing a superb gig for The Skinny magazine during the Edinburgh Festival, being filmed live by BBC Scotland at The Classic Grand & playing my first live set at King Tuts. Plans for 2007 include a new EP or an album and a new live set. I'm currently having a couple of months off to work on those but I'll be playing live again towards the end of February. Also got some cool collaborations in the pipeline and some possible remixes too.

October 17th : Last Thursdays gig at The Music Show final seemed to go down well. At the end of my set Vic Galloway said loads of cool things over the mic to the crowd. It was really good to meet him and Shantha for the first time. Both came across as totally sound people. All the groups played a blinder on the night but I think I managed to hold my own too. The online voting starts on October 23rd and the link is http://www.bbc.co.uk/musicshow. Spread the word and we'll maybe see my first video on the telly soon. Big thanks to the Tronic crew for cheering me on.

This means that 3 demo CDs in a row have been played by Steve Lamacq and 2 by Rob Da Bank.

2005

December 12th : You can now buy 'Click To Enter' online from i-Tunes, Napster, Karmadownload and many more music sites. The CDs are nearly sold out so this may be the only way to get your hands on these particular songs for a while. At least until I get the album finished!

December 4th : Due to a spectacular bit of laptop and pavement interaction, I've had to pull out of the gig at The Liquid Lounge which was booked for 17th December. I'll get back to you all with a new date for next year when I have the details confirmed. This would have been my last performance of 2005 so I apologise to anyone who was coming along for a chat and a beer or two.

September 6th : A huge 'thank you' to everyone who came along to the Musicworks gigs last week. A big shout out to the boys from Cobra Grande who turned up for a few beers at the NEMIS & ITM? night. I think I did one of my best performances yet and it seemed to go down a storm with the crowd!

May 24th : The song 'Hardware Software Nowhere' from the Click To Enter EP is this weeks Number 1 over at the Radio Magnetic BT New Music Chart. Also found out that Steve Lamacq played 'Magnolia Lane' on his show last night on Radio 1.

May 23rd : Thanks to eveyone who came and showed their support at the T Break gig last Sunday night. An excellent review of my set is now available on the T Break site. It says "Satellite Dub is Craig Brown, hi-phat audio dance enthusiast. His avuncular attitude and intense enthusiasm coupled with thundering, sleazy bass grooves, rampant samples and pumping beats is exhilirating. Brown is a bouncing, sweaty, jack in the box. He seems to slip inside the sounds he creates - mouthing the sampled words, clapping along, pushing buttons and spinning knobs with great panache. Before the end he invites anyone who might "want a wee dance to feel free." Looking around I see Jocky from Private Jackson bobbing his head wildly. These beats are so phat that even indie kids dance!" A massive thank you to everyone concerned with the gig including all the other bands who played as well.

April 19th : Just to let you all know that I'll be playing as part of the T-Break showcases this year. I'll be at The Liquid Room in Edinburgh on Sunday 15th May along with 5 other acts. More info when I have it ...

March 25th : Here's a quick update on what's been happening here at S-Dub HQ. 'Power Off Einstein' was played a few times by Steve Lamacq on his Radio 1 show recently. I'm still chuffed to bits about that one! I played a live set at Radio Magnetic's studio in Glasgow which went down great and was a wee bit scary as well. My first gig up in Dingwall was a hoot - thanks to Robbie Dunsmore and everyone else at Robotone for making me feel so welcome. Also a big shout out to DJ Default for his enthusiastic dancing during my set. The track 'Magnolia Lane' from the new EP was included on the NEMIS SxSW CD with a selection of up and coming Scottish acts and is doing the rounds out in Texas as we speak. Thanks to Vic Galloway and the rest of the panel for choosing the song. I've got a few gigs coming up over the next week or so at Easter. If you can make it then come along to one of the shows and shake that booty to the beats! The new 3 track Satellite Dub CD is now available online and at gigs for £3.00. It's called 'Click To Enter' and you can buy it now by clicking here. Well, that's all for now. See you soon! Peace - Craig x

February 9th : Just found out that 'Power Off Einstein' was played on Radio 1 by Steve Lamacq on Monday night. Ta for that Steve! I've been selected as one of the final 10 and I need you all to find the time to go online and cast your votes for me. October 25th : Satellite Dub was featured in the New Talent section of The List's Top 50 Scottish Bands Of All Time booklet last week. There was a fantastic write up which is well worth checking out. Example quotes taken from the booklet include : "A rumbling cataclysm of electronic noise and beats clash in a musical pileup ..... possibly justifying the term 'intelligent dance' , the barrage of ideas present is always set to pounding beats ...... it's eruption of sound could very easily fill and empty dancefloors simultaneously." Get your copy before it sells out folks. Just in time for the showcase this week as well!

October 17th : The new online shop is now up and running thanks to the good people at Simbiotic. The CDs 'Sessions #1' and 'Power Off Einstein EP' are in stock and available for purchase. Both CDs are strictly limited editions of 150 copies. Wipe the dust from your credit card and get your order in now!

October 9th : Big thanks to Viva Stereo and Gav (On The Fly) Brown for a great night on Thursday. It was my pleasure to be involved. I had a hoot and enjoyed myself to the max. Plus Scrumpy on draught, who could go wrong? Although the mind boggles at the thought of everyone let loose in Rosie's afterwards. Joking aside, thanks for letting me crash the party and I'm already looking forward to Rialtostock III. Remember to check out Viva's debut album 'Optimism Is Not A Curse' as it is a fantastic piece of work and comes highly recommended by S-Dub HQ.

September 17th : Two more gigs coming up in October. I'll be playing at Rialto in Falkirk with Viva Stereo and DJ Gav Brown (AKA On The Fly) as part of 'Way To Blue' on the 7th. Later in the month I'm playing as part of a special Nightworks Showcase in Glasgow organised by DJ Gill Mills as part of the Musicworks industry conference. I'll be performing at The Buff Club on the 28th October. Check out the Live Dates section for more details of both nights.

September 5th : The gig in Dunfermline on Friday was a blast! Big thanks to Kev Cruiser and Stuart McHugh for asking me to play the Is This Music? night at Monty's. Thumbs up to Persil and Motormark as well who both performed excellent sets although I had to split early unfortunately. The show was recorded for broadcast next month on Radio Magnetic - make a note and keep an eye out for it.

June 7th : Diggin' Deeper was amazing. A great night was had by all and I played my set in a cinema packed with receptive clubbers. I had my first experience of people dancing to my music which was cool and I also sold some CDs. Robbie Dunsmore's set was excellent as usual and the DJs and rappers were superb as well. I have to admit that I felt a bit nervous about playing 'Jesusfreak Part 1' down in the haunted vaults with the lights out though .........

June 1st : The gig that was supposed to happen on the 17th of June has been cancelled. It's been reorganised for July 15th at Cuba Norte in Glasgow. I'll let you know more details when I have them.

May 28th : Close but no cigar! I've just found out that I made it to the final 5 in the recent Smirnoff Experience Demo Panel which was held in Glasgow. Smirnoff were awarding a £3000 recording budget to the artist who submitted the best CD. Other finalists included Oval Soul, Little Buddha and Pomegranate but the prize was scooped by Swimmer One.

I'll be playing with Robbie Dunsmore again at Diggin' Deepers 1st birthday so it should be a good night. February 27th : Everyone should get a hold of a copy of the new issue of 'Is This Music?' magazine. Inside you'll find an excellent review of the gig I played at Stereo in January. 'A blur of energy and flailing limbs' says reviewer Stuart McHugh. Buy the magazine to read more folks, it's worth the money and it's a great mag with a free CD as always.

February 24th : The gig at QMU last week went really well despite an attack of the technical gremlins midway through the set. I enjoyed the night a lot though - it's only my 2nd gig and I've already played with a full light show! Details of more gigs have been added to the live page so remember to check it out for more information and to buy tickets.

February 18th : The Satellite Dub track 'Hypocrites' is going to be played tonight by DJ Jim Gellatly during his show on Beat 106. If you can, try to listen in. I'll have the radio blaring at home for this one!

I've got more gigs booked for March and April - I'll add the details to the Live page in the next few days.

January 10th : Thanks to everyone who came along to the gig at Stereo this week. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The set I played went down really well with the crowd and even got a mini review on the Jockrock website as part of the Blog section. Not bad considering it was my live debut!

2003

December 26th : I've just heard that DJ Jim Gellatly played the Satellite Dub track 'Jesusfreak Part 1' during his Xmas Eve show on Beat 106. It's the first time my music has been played on Beat 106 so I'm pretty excited about it. Nice one Jim, thanks for your support!

December 8th : Sorry it's been a while since I've updated this section but there's good reason. The first in what will hopefully be a series of live performances has been confirmed. July 7th : The lyrics to the newly completed song 'Hypocrites' have now been added to the site as promised, have a read of them and let me know what you think. The mp3 file will be added soon along with another brand new track 'Power Off Einstein' - both songs have been getting a fantastic reception from the select few who have heard them so far.

April 21st : The lyrics to new song 'Democracy Is Dead' seem to have caused a bit of an uproar on the Garageband forums. Satellite Dub has been branded a 'leftie commie coward' on one hand but on the other I've been told to 'Spit in our American faces, we deserve it!' Click here
if you want to read more of the comments.

March 18th : A new 'song lyrics' section has been added to the website. This includes the words to 2 brand new tracks being worked on in the studio called 'Democracy Is Dead' and 'Satellite People' as well as the lyrics to favourites like 'No Questions' and 'Already Forgotten Your Face'.

March 14th : The song 'Jesusfreak Part 1' was played by Radio 1 DJ Gill Mills last night on the show Session In Scotland. "I don't want to hang a giant albatross shaped unsigned sign around that neck but that was an unsigned track." said Gill on air. "We're big fans of that here, we like it a lot. Satellite Dub doesn't want to tour because he thinks it looks boring and I wish more DJs/Chemical Brothers would take note of this!" She then mentioned the website and CD details as well. Thanks Gill - you're a star!

March 3rd : As promised earlier, the music of Satellite Dub is now being used to promote the new BMW motorcycles. The BMW website features 4 S-Dub songs in it's download section. Click here to view the page for yourself.
